Spider veins are small yet noticeable markings that can appear on the ankles, calves or the face. As we grow older, these red or blue veins can be see on both men and women. Men have less noticeable degrees of spider vein markings due to the presence of body hair. However, both men and women start to have significant spider vein markings on the face as they age.

Silk Skin’s ND:Yag technology can safely remove spider veins under 3mm. It is so effective, it can even clear up leftover spider veins after treatments like sclerotherapy. The ND: Yag is the same device used in laser hair removal. Due to its versatility, the machine can be calibrated to target and remove spider veins most areas of the body. Read more about spider vein removal below, or call us at (972) 404-0006 to schedule a free consultation in Plano.

How does it work?

The ND: Yag focuses a harmless amount of energy in the form of a laser, targeting the pigments of the skin. Pigments are what give our skin, and unsightly spider veins, their color. In this treatment, the laser is focused on each area, causing the blood inside the veins to coagulate. Because of its exact precision, the laser does not damage any of the neighboring cells, only the spider veins. Once the laser is applied, the vein will be sealed off and the body can naturally remove the residue left over.  Eventually the spider veins will start to fade and disappear. You can experience this service at our Plano location.

What kind of expectations should I have after my first Spider Vein treatment?

People’s reaction to laser hair removal can range from minimal to mild, however the treated area usually becomes red or tender. The feeling is similar to a faint sunburn received from being out in the sun for a few hours. Over the course of the next 2-6 weeks, the veins will change from a dark blue to a light red and finally disappear. Since the body is naturally breaking down and reabsorbing the now coagulated veins, you must be patient in order to see complete results.

Some individuals are more prone to forming spider veins. While these factors are mostly genetic, women tend to develop more spider veins throughout their lives than men. This development can be accelerated by changes in blood pressure. Spider vein treatment discourages the formation of new spider veins in treated areas, however if you have a reputation of easily developing spider veins, more treatments may become necessary for extended results.

How many treatments will I need?

Most individuals have spider veins in small yet noticeable areas. Treatments are recommended based on the size of the affected area and the concentration of spider veins within the area. Usually anywhere from 2-6 treatments are necessary for sustainable results. In order to get the most results from each treatment, they should be scheduled between 4-6 weeks apart .

Are there any side effects?

In most cases, the skin of the treated area may become soft and tender. In some very rare conditions, the treatment can cause slight pigmentation in the skin. However both conditions will return to normal over time.

Most other side effects may arise from incorrect set or malfunctioning laser devices. Our machines are calibrated weekly, well-maintained and regularly serviced. This ensures that the laser produced by the machine will not have any additional side effects. Once the machine is properly calibrated, it can deliver comfortable and lasting results without fear of any adverse effect.
